Collage Reflection (1,2,3,4)

I am very pleased with the outcome of my collage work. I was inspired by Jiri Kolar to attempt creating collage through strips. This was a new method for me and particularly effective . This project was challenging as I was tasked with restraining myself through collage, trying to keep things minimalist for maximum effect. I had bought some old travel guides - so the images had similar themes and colours, which meant when they were combined the outcome was more harmonious. I am really pleased that my new experiment had a successful outcome. I found removing information by blocking to be quite unsuccessful - maybe it was the nature of my images, but I'm not sure if the image with the blocked mirror looks very interesting.

Additionally, I explored 3D collage in more simple terms, through folding paper and creating texture. I had intended to practise creating texture through sewing, but my breakthrough moment came when I decided to poke the needle through the paper to create bumps. I selected images from my travel book that had interesting images on each side and used a needle to trace the shapes. I love the contrast of figures and textures - its really beautiful. Overall, this project went well.
